The History of the Skating Party
The skating party was started by Tom Malone. Tom was an old hockey player, coach, and ref here in Nashville. He wanted to take local handicapped kids out for a night on the ice. The kids loved it, but over time it became more difficult to transport all the kids, so the event was transformed into a Parish skating night. Now every year, a few hundred St Stephen's parishioners crowd the ice for a great night before Thanksgiving. Family's get to share in another tradition, and everyone gets a chance to feel like a kid again. We owe it all to Tom and to Jimbo who keeps it going.
